Native American Medicine Bags served as a sacred container designed to hold items believed to protect it's owner or bestow spiritual powers.  The size of the bag was determined by the number of items that needed to be carried by it's owner. Each item was chosen for it's significance and the personal connection the owner had with these contents.  Being small or large these bags acted as a personal talisman, embodying the spiritual beliefs and traditions of the individual. These medicine bags are mostly made by members of the  Oglala Sioux or Teton Sioux. Kevin Fast Horse and Rose Little Thunder are members of the Oglala Lakota Tribe. The tribe prefers to be known as The Lakota Nation. The Lakota people are one of seven related Tribes that belong to the larger Sioux Nation.  They speak the Lakota language.  Other Tribes also make Medicine Bags
